Ceramic sanitary ware is very popular and widely chosen in the market, such as: toilet bowls, squat toilets, urinals, washbasins, and more. However, how is the glaze of these ceramic sanitary products made and how are they manufactured? This is still a question many consumers want to have answered.

To clarify this, let's explore how these ceramic products are manufactured to achieve a glossy, smooth, and shiny finish, and whether they are durable during use.

Ceramic sanitary ware with a bright white color is suitable for various design styles.

  1. What is Ceramic Glaze? Ceramic glaze is a layer of glaze sprayed onto ceramic sanitary ware products after drying the raw body. The glaze is sprayed in 2 to 3 layers onto the surface of the ceramic product.

  2. Methods of Ceramic Glaze Spraying Currently, there are two methods of ceramic glaze spraying: manual spraying and robotic spraying.

Typically, all three layers of glaze sprayed onto the ceramic product use the same type of glaze. Special function glazes, such as antibacterial glaze or anti-stick glaze, are sprayed on the outermost layer.

The manufacturing process of toilets, washbasins, and ceramic sanitary ware at JOMOO is entirely done by robots, with human supervision and inspection to ensure the process is smooth and perfect.

  1. Allowed Thickness of Ceramic Glaze Depending on the location and spraying pressure, the thickness of the glaze layer can range from 0.3 – 0.8mm. The average thickness of the ceramic glaze is about 0.7mm.

The air holes on the surface of the glaze must adhere to the following standards:

  • Allowable < 0.3mm
  • Main usage surface may have no more than 1 hole from 0.3 – 0.6mm
  • Main usage surface is not allowed to have holes > 0.6mm
  1. The Process of Creating Antibacterial Ceramic Glaze To obtain antibacterial ceramic glaze, the glaze undergoes a firing process at temperatures ranging from 1200 – 1250 degrees Celsius. Nano titanium (Ag+) glaze is mixed directly into the raw glaze and sprayed onto the ceramic product, then vitrified on the surface of the ceramic sanitary ware.

This process makes the glaze more durable over time and enhances its whiteness. Antibacterial ceramic glaze has the advantage of self-cleaning, antibacterial properties, virus elimination, super anti-stick, dirt resistance, and deodorizing, eliminating odors caused by mold and harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The antibacterial glaze technology is applied to ceramic sanitary ware products such as toilets, washbasins, squat toilets, urinals, and more.

The lavabo sink with a cute design and antibacterial glaze is favored by users.

In today's society, in addition to aesthetic requirements, customers also pay great attention to the glaze and characteristics of sanitary ceramics when choosing bathroom fixtures for their homes. Particularly, health concerns and related features play a significant role in the decision-making process, especially when it comes to choosing sanitary ceramics for customers.
